Charlotte Ellen Acton, 90, of Collison peacefully died on Oct. 21, 2014, with family at her side.

She was born Sept. 17, 1924, the only child of the late Russell Linden and Laura Naomi (Creighton) Wright. She graduated from Armstrong High School in 1943 and worked at Chanute Field Air Force Base in Rantoul.

She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Edward "Chuck" Acton on Christmas Eve 1944 at the No. 10 Church of Christ. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2011.

The Actons farmed in Pilot Township for several decades where they raised two children, Randee Carter of Fithian and Parker (Sally) Acton of Collison.

Charlotte operated a beauty shop in her home for many years. She also worked for the State of Illinois Department of Public Health as a nursing home inspector and retired in 1992.

Charlotte is survived by two children and six grandchildren, Holly Clingan, Erin Clingan (Aaron) Harrison, Cory (Stacy) Acton, Beau (Jennifer) Acton, Matthew Carter and Zachary (fiancee Emily Rosenbeck) Acton; and seven great-grandchildren, Julian, Jonah and Jett Morris, Alec, Sailer and Ireland Harrison, and Cade Acton.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband on June 21, 2011.
