Retired from James River Paper Co. after 25 years, was 66, a native of Greenville, Miss., and a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Survived by his wife, Patsy Williams Mahan; three daughters and a son-in-law, Dianna J. Mahan, Jennice and Greg Goff and Karen J. McCool; stepdaughter and spouse, Patti and Mark Moses; a son and daughter-in-law, Martin J. and Faye Mahan; three stepsons and spouses, Larry and Kathy Harding, Ronnie and Toni Harding and Jonathan and Anna Harding; a special nephew, Greg and wife Pam Mahan; a brother and sister-in-law, George W. and Joan Mahan; and 10 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Harry P. and Virginia Mahan; brother, Patrick David Mahan; grandson, James Edward "Jemmy" Mahan; stepson, David W. Harding; and a stepgrandson, Jamie Hoffman.

He was an avid deer hunter and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
