Joan Atkinson, 62, of Bethlehem, GA, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Ms. Atkinson was a devoted mother and longtime gospel singer. Born in Alexandria, VA., Ms. Atkinson was the daughter of the late Henry Johnson and the late Helen Phillips Johnson.
A funeral service will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Duncan Creek Congregational Church, 3868 Braselton Hwy, Buford, GA 30519. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Ms. Atkinson is survived by her son, Darren S. Barnes of Bethlehem, GA; her daughter, Shelli Barnes Elliott of Asheville, NC. She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren: Noah T. Elliott, Jacob S. Elliott and Lee-Anne Joan Elliott.
