COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Mabel Medley Alcorn, 94, of
Knoxville and formerly of the Buffalo Valley Community, will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
The family receive friends Tuesday, Feb. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the chapel.
Mrs. Alcorn died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000 at St. Mary's Residence Hospice in Knoxville.
She was born May 10, 1905, in Putnam County to the late William R. and Ada McCulley Medley. She was a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Her family includes two daughters and a son-in-law, Ada Faye Tucker of Gainesboro and Peggy and Allison Burton of Clinton; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Alcorn of Cookeville; eight grandchildren, David and Margaret Tucker, Susan Law, Laura Kramer, Barry and Scott Burton, and Neil Jr. and Garry Alcorn; and 12 greatgrandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman D. Alcorn; a son, Neil D. (Bud) Alcorn; a sister, Verta Mae Denny; two brothers, E.E. (Dock) Medley and Cyril Medley; two half-sisters, Elsie Johnson and Hautie Presley; and four half-brothers, Zina, Doss, Ernest and Babe Medley.
Pallbearers will be David and Seth Tucker, Barry and Scott Burton, and Denton and Garry Alcorn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Buffalo Valley Presbyterian Church, Clinch River Home Health, or St. Mary's Hospice.
Dr. Wesley Henry will officiate at the service.
