He is survived by his wife, Shirley; five daughters, Sherry Cole and Loretta Carter, both of Roland, and Charlene Maze, Brenda Carter and Lisa Releford, all of Fort Smith, Arkansas, four sons, Charles Carter Jr, and Gary and Bruce Carter, all of Fort Smith; 36 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
