Ross Darrel Armstrong, 60, of Crab Orchard, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at the VA Medical Center in Beckley following a long illness. Born March 14, 1942, in Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late Everett L. and Macie Earle Richmond Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong was a retired tollbooth operator on the West Virginia Turnpike and a US. Army veteran. He was a 1960 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He was preceded in death by a brother, Everett; and two sisters, Madge Phillips and Mae Goode. Surviving are a son, Ross Shannon Armstrong of Centerville, Va.; two sisters, Maxine Lair of Carmel, Ind., and Almeda Gayle Armstrong of Crab Orchard, with whom he made his home; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 3 p.m Tuesday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel Arrangements by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley.
