The 1850 Census identifies his wife as Jane and a ten month old daughter, Clara. In 1853, Jane Coffin married John Lee and the couple are found on the 1860 census at Bowling Green PO, Washington Township, Clay County, Indiana. Jane Coffin appears to have been with child when Charles died as there is another Coffin daughter enumerated in 1860, Mary E. Coffin, 9 yrs of age, b. Indiana.
