Alexis Welsh Bye, born Nov 25, 1947, passed away after a 3 year struggle with cancer, on Sun, Dec 9, 2012. She was preceded in death by father and mother, James and Ann Welsh; father-in-law and mother-in-law Olav and Ruth Bye; niece Emily Schindler; brother Robert Welsh; brother-in-law Larry Selfridge and grandson Easton Bye. Alexis grew up in Sharon, CT. Upon graduation from secretarial school she moved to Washington, DC, and spent 15 years of her career in what she described as a 'power hungry city'. During that time she began to pursue a degree in business management and completed that later in her career. She used to describe herself as a gypsy, moving from DC to CA, back to DC, on to Denver, CO, to OK, and finally settling in Minnesota – a state where she found love, a new family, and many wonderful friends. In addition she worked at Cummins in Fridley, MN, for 21 years, retiring in 2008. She had a variety of interests, including traveling and being with family and friends. Most important to her were her husband Garry, and her dog Max. There never seemed to be enough time for them, but they knew how much she loved them unconditionally. Her gift for making sure people were a major part of whatever was going on around her was appreciated by so many. Laughing and having fun was important to her, and everyone who knew Alexis loved that attribute. Alexis is survived by her husband, Garry Bye, Cambridge, MN, stepchildren Andrea (Jeff) Morrison, Christopher (Christine) Bye, and Karri (Craig) Theis. Grandchildren include Tyler, Ashley, Nicholas Morrison, Thomas, Cole, Zack Bye, Haley and Alivia Theis. Surviving siblings include James Welsh, Anita (Arthur) Brean, Donald (Sue) Welsh, Daniel (Xiomi) Welsh, Marguerite Selfridge, Joe (Lisa) Welsh, and Jane (Charles) Schindler; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
