Finis E. Alexander, 92, of Silver City, died Sept. 27 in Fort Bayard Medical Center after a long illness. He was born June 3, 1890 in Kentucky, the son of Albert M. and Nannie J. Ewing Alexander, and had lived in Silver City since 1938. He was employed as a bookkeeper and an accountant for different firms in Silver City and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Alexander was a well known and avid bowler in this area for many years, having the honor of throwing out the first bowling ball in the new bowling lanes in Silver City at the age of 90. Mr. Alexander is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Odessa, and daughter Eulal Coleman, both in 1979. Services were held Oct. 1 in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Chapel under the direction of the Rev. David Saucier of the First United Methodist Church. Internment followed in Memory Lane Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers were James Schadel, Jack Bowan, Charles Olson, Robert Gilespie, Elie Chavez and Earl Jarboe. Contributions should be made to the American Cancer society or to the First United Methodist Church Fund. Arrangements by the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home.
