Kenneth G “Kenney” Allen, 55, of Dayton, died Wednesday, October 16, 2002, in St Elizabeth Medical Center. He had battled cancer since 1997. Born August 17, 1947, in Washington, Indiana, he graduated from Washington High School in 1967. He graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a degree in accounting. He married Sherri L Mattix on January 3, 1999, in Lafayette. She survives. Mr Allen worked for Canteen Vending for more than three years, and previously at Aramark Vending for 27 years, as a maintenance worker. He was a 28 year volunteer with the Wea Township Volunteer fire Department. He attended First Christian Church and enjoyed Indiana University basketball, playing basketball at the fire house, and fishing. Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Lisa M Gutwein (husband; James) of Lafayette; a step-daughter, Robyn Lowery of Lafayette; his mother, Gertrude Allen of Jeffersonville; three sisters, Brenda Emery (husband; Homer) of Hardensburg, Ky., Connie Stall (husband; Larry) of Washington; and Pam Thompson of Jeffersonville. Visitation 4-8 pm today Oct 17, 2002, in Richards-Loy & Clapper Funeral Home, Lafayette. Services there 10 am Friday October 18, 2002. Interment Wyandotte Cemetery, the Rev Greg Everhard officiating. Surviving are 5 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Eugene Allen, on Aug 13.
