Lelia H. Allen, 80, of 202 Willow St., Athens, died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at the Robert Packer Hospital after a brief illness. Born April 1, 1917, in Sayre, she was the daughter of Floyd and Elsie Thomas. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Athens. She retired as an O.B. Gyn nurse at the Robert Packer Hospital. She loved to knit and was devoted to her grandson. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul in 1968, and her brothers, Burton Thomas and Phelps Thomas. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Margaret Allen of Mesquite, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Jerry Dolan of Athens; a grandson, Derrick Allen Dolan of Athens; a sister, Elizabeth Burnett of Sayre; a sister-in-law, Florence Thomas of Waverly; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 S. Main St., Athens, on Thursday at 2 p.m. with her nephew, Chaplain Leland Thompson, officiating. The family will provide flowers. Burial will be in the Ulster Cemetery, Ulster. Memorial donations may be made to the Athens Trinity Church, 701 S. Main St., Athens, Pa. or the Greater Valley Medical Emergency Services, Sayre, Pa., or a charity of one's choice.
