Ruth, formerly of Arlington, Virginia passed away Tuesday in Richmond, Virginia.
She lived in northern New Jersey until serving as sergeant in the WAAC in the U.S. and Europe in WWII.
She married George Combs in 1946 and resided in East Lansing, Michigan until 1962 and then in Alexandria and Arlington, Virginia. She relocated to Richmond, Virginia in 1990 upon retiring from the Navy Department with 26 years of civil service.
Survivors include her daughter, Valerie Haskins; three grandchildren, Logan, Colette and Carson; her son, Grant Combs; two brothers, William Richtmyre and Leon Richtmyre.
She was a devoted Episcopalian and an avid supporter of the Washington National Cathedral, where, by request, her ashes will be scattered in the Bishop's Garden.
A memorial service will be held at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 8706 Quaker Lane, Richmond, Virginia.
