Mrs. Beverly Akers,58, of Springfield passed on March 19, 2006 at St. John's Hospice.
She was born on August 9, 1947 in Springfield,IL. the daughter of David and Sophia (Martin) Shrake. Beverly met and later married James Akers in Springfield on August 22, 1993. Mrs. Akers was a seamstress with Armbruster Tent Co.
Beverly is survived by three daughters: Jenny Hyde, Sharmon Cook, and Eddie Cook, two sons: William Cook III, and Shane Akers all of Springfield, one brother Edward "Eddie" (Vickie) Shrake of Elwood,IL. one sister Lynda (Tom) Flynn of Las Vegas,NV. four step daughters: Janice (Paul) Peavy of Murfreesboro,TN. Teana (Tim) Scannel of Rochester,IL. Rita (Jerimaih) Duff of Springfield, and Tresa Unland of Springfield, one step son James Akers Jr of Springfield, several grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James in August of 1998.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son where visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11-1pm at Bisch and Son Funeral Home. Services will follow at 1:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Hyde officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
