MARY ANDERSON DIES AT BETHANY HOME, CHICAGO

Mrs. Mary Nelson Anderson, 83, a resident of Momence for over 55 years, died at
6:15 o'clock Friday morning at the Bethany home in Chicago where she had resided
since 1940.
The remains were brought to the Canaday chapel where they lay in state until the
hour of the funeral which was held at the Methodist church, of which she was a
member, at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon with the Rev. Fred Payne officiating.
Burial was in the family lot in Momence cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Sweden Feb. 7, 1862, the daughter of Nels and Bertha
Nelson. Her parents died when she was a small child and she was reared in the
family of the late J.W. Larson. Coming to the United States in the fall of 1879,
she came to Momence a short time later, and on March 10, 1885 was married to
John Walgren whose death occurred on Nov. 4, 1910.
In August of 1913, Mrs. Walgren was married to Frank Anderson who preceded her
in death on July 8, 1917. Mrs. Anderson lived in her home on North Dixie Highway
until 1940 when ill health forced her to dispose of her property and move to the
Bethany home where death occurred.
Surviving is a stepson, Seymour C. Anderson of Atlanta, Ga, who was here for the
services. Two daughters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Anderson will be remembered by the many friends she made during her long busy years here, as a kindly, friendly personage with a cheery smile and kind word for all.

Servant of God, well done!
Thy glorious warfare's past,
The battle fought, the race is won,
And thou art crowned at last.
