Raymond Adams, resident of Rockford for fifty-three years, died this morning at 10 o'clock at St. Anthony hospital, at the age of eighty-eight years. His death was due to a stroke of paralysis two years ago, which left him disabled, and he had been a patient at the hospital since that time. For the past month he had been in a comatose condition.
Mr. Adams was born April 11, 1839, in Cortland county, New York. In 1841, he came to Rochester, Minn., and a year later removed to Ripon, Wis. He later made his home in Dixon, Ill., and in 1864 came to Rockford. His marriage took plact at Oswego, N. Y., December 25, 1851. Owing to a lameness, he was rejected for service in the Civil war.
He was predeceased by Mrs. Adams seven years ago, and since that time had made his home with his daughters, Mrs. Samue Norton, 519 Locust street, and Mrs. Isabelle Taylor, Montana. Mr. and Mrs. Adams celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Besides the daughters, he is survived by three grandchildren, Mrs. Helser of Sentinel Butte, N. Dak., Mrs Margaret Norton, assistant librarian at Vassar college, and Raymond Taylor of this city.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Norton residence on Locust street. Wm. M. Shimmin will officiate, and interment will be in the Cedar Bluff Cemetery.
