She was reared at the old Bower home and at the age of twenty years was converted and united with the Dry Hill Baptist church and was baptized by the Rev. M. A. Shrewberry.
Emma made her home at the old Nux Bower homestead in Kinkaid township until about six years ago, when she came to Ava where she resided until the date of her death.
She leaves behind the following relatives: two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Ann Bilderback, wife of G. J. Bilderback of Ava, and Mrs. Sydnor E. Wilson of Sparta, Illinois; two brothers, Cyrus Bower of Jacob, Illinois, and Joe C. Bower of Ava, Illinois; two aunts, Mrs. Julia A. Ledbetter of Ava and Mrs. George Dunhouse of Jacob, Illinois; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
