Willard was the second child of Nehemiah Andruss, Jr. and Zerviah Gillett. He married first Jerusha Barber on 21 Dec 1828 in Barkhamsted. Willard and Jerusha had four children: Frances, Alfred Hinsdale, Caroline and Adelaide. They resided for some time in New Hartford before moving to Pleasant Valley. After Jerusha's death he married second Harriet Clark Chorel widow of Anthony Chorel on 12 May 1850 in Hampden, New Haven, CT. Following Harriet's death, Willard lived with Frances and her husband Warren Taylor. Willard worked as a stone sawyer.
