Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyle Streun officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home.
Mrs. Allison went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her loving husband of 56 years on Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, in Austin.
Ruth was born Sept. 3, 1911, in Hereford to H.G. and Mary Lisle Conkright. She married J.R. Allison on June 15, 1941, in Hereford. J.R. preceded Ruth in death in March 1997. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for more than 40 years. Ruth was a member of the Bay View Club and Music Club. She moved to Austin in 2005.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Ann Allison Cansler and husband "Mack" of Austin; a son, Jim Allison of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Keith Cansler, Ashton Allison, Allison Brown and Amy Schneiderjan; and three great-grandchildren, Abby Brown, Avery Brown and Gracie Schneiderjan.
The family suggests memorials be to the Amarillo Area Foundation, 801 S. Fillmore St., No. 700, Amarillo, TX 79101.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
