She married 1) Heinrich (Henry) Klein May 13, 1884 in Manhattan, New York. It is not established whether they knew each other in Germany,or, met on board ship and married when they reached New York. They settled in Crab Orchard, Lincoln County, KY where they cleared the land and established a farm. It was a difficult life in a new country.
She and Henry had 5 children:
George Henry Klein
Jacobus Paulus [James]Klein
Elizabeth May (Lee) Klein
Anna (Bessie) Klein
Eva Klein.

Henry had 5 children from a previous marriage. name of spouse unknown:
John Klein
Carl (Charles) Andreas Klein
Margaret Klein Aka Maggie Or Mag
Rhinehardt Klein
Adam Joseph Klein, Sr.

When Henry became ill with a heart condition, he decided to return to Germany, alone. He died as he was stepping off the ship in Germany.

Widowed, Elizabeth moved from Crab Orchard, KY to St. Bernard, Hamilton Co., Ohio with her 3 daughters, Elizabeth May (LEE); Anna (Bessie); and Eva. Her son George remained in Crab Orchard, Kentucky to work as a farmhand.

Elisabeth ran a boarding house to support her family. She later married 2) Frederick Binder. One evening she went to the P&G freight yards to gather coal with her 5 year old daughter, Eva, and was struck and killed by a B&O freight train. Eva, her youngest child, was placed in an orphanage until she became of age.

My dearest Grandmother,
whom I never knew,
Emigrated from your Country of birth
So that your descendants would
Have the opportunities and joys
Of being born and raised in a
free Country.
I am humbly grateful
to be one of your descendants
I carry your name, genes
and heritage proudly.

Your loving granddaughter,
Geraldine Elizabeth D'Amato Olbermann
