I know that making the statement that an 80 year old left this world too soon is incomprehensible to most. To anyone that truly knew my grandmother, this statement makes perfect sense.
If I had to choose one word to describe my grandmother, Lucy Lee Venable, it would be vivacious. She LOVED life. She adored her family. She was active and funny. She had a huge heart and looked forward to every new day with enthusiasm and optimism.

This was just the beginning of her favorite time of year. She would wear a shirt that said "HAPPY EVERYTHING" that showed popular images for all holidays, including a grinning jack-o-lantern for my favorite holiday, Halloween. She was a woman of faith and love.

My beautiful grandma Lucy passed away today at the age of 80 surrounded by her close family. We believe that she knew we were there, but that she was ready to go. I cannot say that she is in a better place because the BEST place for her is here with all of us; with her family and friends.
A tragic accident took my grandmother from us. It does not feel real. I am still waiting to wake up; to see her and to hear her. To say that this was unexpected is a vast understatement.

I grieve for myself, my brother and sister, my mom, my cousin, and my nephews and niece who love their GG so much.

I grieve for the friends that love her. For all of her family, near and far, that love her.

I grieve for my dad; for the loss of his dear mother and friend. I am so sad for my aunt for the loss of her mother and confidante.

But mostly I grieve for my grandfather. He lost the love of his life. The woman he married almost 60 years ago. The woman that was his sunrise and his sunset.

I say that we lost her, but I know that she will always be with us. To me, she is just on another plane. I may not always be able to see her or hear her and, while that is extremely difficult, I know that she is always here, telling us to be happy. She would tell us to think of her fondly and to laugh at ALL of the great memories we have. We may struggle with this for a time, but we know that she would want us to be joyful in our remembrance of her.

To my grandma Lucy; you, beautiful lady, are very much loved and will always be an important and cherished part of our family. Words cannot express how much you are missed, physically, but you are with us every second of every day and always will be.
