Anna (Schmidt) Potkaj
Mrs. Anna (Schmidt) Potkaj, wife of Pawel Potkaj of 21 Jesse Street, Fairhaven, died at home yesterday after a long illness.
Born in Wach, Poland, she lived 57 years in Greater New Bedford. She retired 15 years ago after working as a textile operator at the Hoosac Mills.
Mrs. Potkaj was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, and a member of The Star of Liberty Society, the Polish Roman Catholic Union, and the Holy Rosary Sodality.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Boleslaw William, Mieczyslaw, and Eugeniusz all of Fairhaven; two daughters, Mrs Anna Lajmuc of New Bedford and Mrs Rosalie Brown of Fairhaven; a sister, Mrs Antosia Kowalczyk of New Bedford; 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
