Mrs. Fred Ackerman Dies Monday Afternoon
Mrs. Fred Ackerman, 82, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. I. G. Pfander in Deadwood, about 1:30 Monday afternoon, following an illness of several weeks. She had been making her home with her daughter since the death of her husband on November 30, 1944.
Gladys May Zalas was born Dec. 15, 1864 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was married January 1, 1892 to Fred Ackerman in Linwood, Nebraska, where they made their home for several years before coming to Deadwood 40 years ago, where she has lived since.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Pfander and a sister, Mrs. Mary Agnes Dieter, Seattle, Wash.
The body is at Buehler and Wells funeral home in Deadwood. Funeral arrangements have not been made, but interment will be in the Spearfish cemetery.
