Jonathan William Hadley's mother, Mary Ann Carlisle died when he was one year old. In 1880 when the Census was taken he was 15 years old and working on a farm and his father had already married Elizabeth P. Johnson. At that time, living in the household were:
1) Father, William Hadley M 51
2) Mother, Elizabeth P. Hadley F 35
3) Son, Jonathon William Hadley M 15
4) Son, Simon Hadley M 8
5) Son, Zeno Tatum Hadley M 3
All born in North Carolina, USA.

Jonathan was born on February 20, 1865 in Orange county to parents William and Mary Ann Carlisle Hadley. Mary Ann passed away when he was one and his father married his stepmother, Elizabeth P Johnson.

At the age of 5 they moved to Pittsboro Road North Side, Chatham, North Carolina... Census Post Office was Pittsboro, NC. At the age of 15, he was working on a farm in Hadley Twp., Chatham, North Carolina and had 2 half-brothers, Simon and Zeno Tatum.

Wedding Bells rang for Jonathan William Hadley and Flora E. Andrew on 14 October, 1888...he was 23...she was 19.

Jonathan and Flora lived in Newlin, Alamance, North Carolina when he was 35. They had been blessed by Mary Alice 10,
Leanna Elsie 9, Lilly Inez 6, Elizabeth Fern 5, Franklin William 5, Tatum A. Delbert 2, and Harriet Edna 2 months. Then came Verna Mae, Eva and Ruth.

He never reached the age of 45...on October 20, 1907...God called him home...leaving Flora with a house full of children ranging from 20 years to 3 years...and no husband ...but God was with Flora and she raised a wonderful family.

Jonathan was buried at Snow Camp Rt., Chatham County, North Carolina in South Fork Friends Church Cemetery and Flora joined him in her time.
