Mrs. Anne Liles Lumpkin, 79, of 115 Linden St., died Tuesday morning at her residence after a long illness.
Mrs. Lumpkin was born in Polk County, Nov. 1, 1915, daughter of the late Robert Chesley Liles and Katie M. Starnes Liles. She was a member of the Hollywood Baptist Church and prior to retirement was employed by Kessler's Department Store. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Howard Lumpkin, Aug. 28, 1993.
Survivors include: a sister, Elizabeth Swafford, Cedartown; a brother, Ralph Liles, Douglasville; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Henderson and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Dingler and the Rev. Morris Smith officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Cedartown.

Mrs. Anne Liles Lumpkin, age 79, 115 Linden St., Rome, passed away Tuesday morning at her residence, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Lumpkin was born in Polk County on November 1, 1915, daughter of the late Robert Chesley and Katie M. Starnes Liles. She was retired after a number of years from Kessler's Department Store in Rome. She was also employed for a number of years at Miller's Department Store. She was a member of the Hollywood Baptist Church, where she served as secretary for the Senior Adult Women's Sunday School Class. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Post #136 in Lindale, the VFW Auxiliary, and the DAV Commanders Club. Mrs. Lumpkin was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Howard Lumpkin on August 28, 1993.
Survivors include: a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Swafford, Cedartown, a brother, Ralph Liles, Douglasville, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2PM at the Chapel of Henderson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Dingler and the Rev. Morris Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedartown.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home this evening from 7 until 9 PM, and at other hours, they will be at the residence.
Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Thursday at 1:45 PM and include Danny Crabbe, Jackie Welchel, Jesse Currin, Charles Patterson, Mac McDurmond and Ricky Davenport. An honorary escort will include members of the Senior Adult Women's Sunday School Class from Hollywood Baptist Church and these ladies are also requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Thursday at 1:45 PM.
