Elmyra Jane Hall Mitchell died at the age of 45 due to consumption (tuberculosis) in which she had suffered with for a year prior to her death. She died October 31, 1896 at the family residence Thursday evening which is located near Plattesburg MIneral Springs. She was born in 1847 in Dekalb, Missouri; however, there are some reports that she may have been born in Tennessee. She was the daughter of Milton Samuel Hall (February 6, 1807-January 4, 1873) and Ann 'Nianna' Begg (1809-1850). She had 7 siblings: John M. C. Hall (1829-1911), Benoi/Benton Hall 91832-?), Sarah E. Hall (1834-?), William W. Hall (1836-?), David Marion Hall (1839-1922), Edward Hall (1841-1921), and Lewis F. Hall (1849-?).

She married John Elias Mitchell on August 23, 1866 at the age of 19. To this union, they had three children: William Arthur Mitchell (1865-1951), Sara Jane "Sissie" Mitchell Roberts (1870-1942), and Marvin Mitchell (1896-1896).

The funeral took place Saturday at Frazier.
