Linda Jean Akers, age 60, of Poteet passed away Saturday, June 11, 2005 at her home. Linda was born June 8, 1945 in Twin Falls, Idaho and 3 months later moved to Centralia, Washington, where she graduated High School at Centralia High 1963. She met and married Larry C. Akers, Jr. August 29, 1964. She raised two children, Elonda Jean Akers McCarn and Charles H. Akers (Bubba). She was preceded in death by daughter Taylor Suzanne Akers, December 16, 1969 and father Harrison Ford Shepard of Centralia, he died September 6, 1994. Linda worked at the Post Office in Poteet from 1977 thru 1989 under the direction of Post Masters August Hooge, Mary Cooper and Fred Catala. After retiring, she worked for Defence Automated Printing Service (DAPS) at Kelly Field from 1996 up until 2000, when forced to retire due to back problems. She was a homemaker and loved life. Her hobbies included watching bull riding, antique cars, and one of her last activities was riding in a close friends 1923 Model T touring car. She is survived by her husband Larry C. Akers, Jr., daughter Elonda Akers McCarn, son Charles Harrison Akers (Bubba), daughter-in-law Mary Ann Akers, and two very precious granddaughters Samantha Nicole Akers, Katlan Ashley Akers all of Leming, her mother Betty Shepard Palmer and step-dad Ted Palmer, twin sister Lana Shepard Frost of Centralia, Washington and brother Lawrence Harrison Shepard of Olympia, Washington with numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and friends. She is loved and will be missed. Visitation was held Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton.
