Born to Parker Preston Woodward (1804-1884?) and Sally Pilsbury Sawyer (born March 9, 1807), both of the Danville, Caledonia County, Vermont geographical area (including Peacham).
Darius married Sophronia Ann "Sophia" (Robinson) on April 6, 1846.** She was born about October 1825 in Peacham and died July 5, 1865 in Danville of tuberculosis.
Children include: Sophia M. born about 1844 in Danville; Charles born September 8, 1845 in Stanstead, Quebec; Effie A. born about 1856 in Danville, died February 19, 1908 in Barnet, Caledonia County, Vermont; Edward Albert born 1858/1859 in Danville, died April 18, 1922 in Danville.
Darius married Lucy Ann Pratt (1840-1912), daughter of William Henry Pratt and his wife Lucy, after his first wife passed away in 1865. Lucy is buried under the same stone.
Son Frank S. (1865-1953) is buried in the same row, together with daughter Abbie J. (1860-1874).
Son Dexter Woodward was born May 05, 1875 in East Haven, Essex County, Vermont. On April 29, 1896 he married Lillian Martha Hosford of East Haven (daughter of H. Tyler and Abigail Hosford) in Newark, Caledonia County, Vermont. He died September 21, 1960 in Jefferson, Coos County, New Hampshire.
Other children listed in the 1880 U.S. census are: Lois M. (born 1869), Esther (born 1877), and Herbert Chester (1879-March 5, 1946 in Connecticut) who married Prudence Rossina Hosford and had three children.
Darius' death certificate lists his occupation as farmer and states cause of death as cancer. It also states he was born in Cabot, Washington County, Vermont.
Darius Anson's grandparents were Thomas Apollos Woodward (1785-?) of Peacham/Deweysburg, Caledonia County, Vermont, who married Rachel Runnells/Reynolds in 1801 in Deweysburg, and Benjamin and Betsey (Taylor) Sawyer.
Uncle Royal Alonzo Woodward (1803-1879 in Kansas), Parker Preston's older brother, and aunt Mary Hawley Sawyer (1816-1880 in Kansas), Sarah's younger sister, also married each other.
Sister Flora Ella (Woodward) Elliott Cass (1835-1935) married his son Anson Darius Dec 29, 1894, together raising a son, Anson Darius Woodward, Jr.
