Edward J. Fleming, 69, of 770 Newell St. died early Saturday morning in Lake County Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was born in West Farmington on May 17, 1891, and lived in Painesville area most of his life. He retired in 1945 from the plastering contracting business. In 1910 he was married to the former Hazel DeVall in Ripley, N.Y. Mr. Fleming was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife; son, Edward J. Jr. of Leroy; daughters, Mrs. Vera Eckert, Mrs. Dorothy Lawson and Mrs. Margie Arsulic, all of Painesville; brother, Corbett of Concord; sisters, Mrs. Ethel Gebeau of Fairport, Mrs. Irene Pernoja of Painesville and Mrs. Laura Tombes of Ashtabula; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Spear Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Services will be there at 2 p.m. Monday. Rev. Foster G. Sizemore, pastor of the Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

The Spear Funeral Home was the scene of funeral services for Edward J. Fleming, 69, of 770 Newell St. Monday at 2 p.m. Mr. Fleming died Saturday in Lake County Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was a retired plastering Contractor. Among his survivors was a daughter Mrs. Geraldine Brewer of Painesville. Foster G. Sizemore, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Charles Brewer, Vester Lawson, George Arsulic, Eugene Eckert, Stanley Eckert and David Eckert. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
