The family bible records Edward Yager died of "consumption". After his death, Sallie moved to Texas with her children. Nannie E Yager had married Russell B Hill in 1870 in Van Buren, Tennessee. It was from there that the family then made the move to Texas.
You can find them living in Ladonia, Fannin, Texas in the 1880 census. Sallie Ann Smith Yager met James H Cole. ( He had lived in Ladonia with his first wife, Zerelda E Houston and of this union, there were 8 children. She died 30 May 1876, leaving him with four surviving children.) James H Cole and Sallie Ann Yager married 28 Oct 1880 in Ladonia, Fannin, Texas. When Sallie and James Cole united she became mother to all the surviving children of Zerelda. They truly became as what we call now a "blended" family.
