Archie C. "Bud" Pasmore was born in Mooswa, Alberta, Canada on June 5, 1920. He was a resident of the Vancouver, Washington area since 1940. He died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 of natural causes at the age of 90.

He worked at Alcoa during the construction of the plant, as a welder in the Oregon Shipyards, and in May 1943 he became a street car operator for the Portland Traction Company. Most of his lifetime he was employed in highway construction and for 21 years preceding his retirement in 1989, he was Operations and Maintenance Manager for Clark County Public Works.

On June 26, 1944 Bud joined the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion and was stationed in Guam during World War II. He loyally served the U.S. while still a Canadian, and then became a U.S. citizen on February 7, 1947.

In 1957 he joined the North Clark Lions Club and later transferred to the Vancouver Lions Club, where he soon became an active leader. He served as District Hearing Chairman, Governor of District 19-G, District Manpower Chairman, Council Chairmen, International Director, and was appointed by Lions International to a sector leadership for the Sight First Campaign. He was twice a recipient of the "Lion of the Year" award. Lions Clubs International presented Bud with the "Ambassador of Good Will Award," the highest award the association grants to its members.

Bud was cofounder of the original "Walk & Knock" food drive in 1982. By 1985 the drive had grown to such proportions that more help was needed and he was instrumental in coordinating the now present "Interservice Walk & Knock of Clark County", which collects tons of food every December for local food banks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola, and grandson, Michael. His survivors include two sons, Paul and Richard, daughter Mary, grandchildren Julie, Nicholas, Paula, Susan and James, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends were invited to attend a memorial service which was held at Evergreen Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1101 NE 112th Avenue, Vancouver, Washington on Saturday, October 16, 2010.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bud's name to Interservice Walk & Knock, PO Box 353, Vancouver, WA 98666.
