Will was the son of Thomas Southard (1848-1930) and Mary Elizabeth Huckaby (1849-1898). Flossie Maize Hite (1893 1968) was the daughter of John Hite (1827-1869) and Susan Brubaker (1829-1899). They met and married in Missouri and had 9 children.
