CANTON, Mo.-Dorita E. Hetzler, 94, of Canton, died at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 3, 2013) in the Lewis County Nursing Home, Canton.
She was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Canton, a daughter of Asbury and Manilia Moore Chamberlain. She married John Rose on March 29, 1960, and he died Dec. 1, 1960. She later married Jacob Henry Hetzler Jr. on April 2, 1966, in the Canton United Methodist Church. He died April 17, 1988.
She had been employed at Culver-Stockton College for five years and at the Lewis County Nursing Home for 22 years.
Dorita was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church since the age of 12. She was a member of the Lewistown Women's Auxiliary 578 since 1967.
She loved being with her grandchildren and liked gardening and outdoor life with her animals.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn (John) Carter of Springfield, Mo.; two sons, Roy (Tina) Hetzler and Roger (Debby) Hetzler, both of Canton; a step daughter, Rita Sue (Jim) Evans of Lebanon, Mo.; grandchildren, Mary, Tyler, Crystal, Shaun and Richard J. Carter, all of Springfield, Rachael (Josh Groff), Megan, Charles and Jacob Hetzler, all of Canton, Tiffany (Don) Black of Stafford, Va. and Trent Lowe of Canton; great-grandchildren, Bradley Ryan Goff, Cody and Aiden Black and Chelsi and Shelbi Hall; two sisters, Thelma Morrison and Daisy (Jon) Palmer, both of Quincy; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two brothers, Leonard and Donald Chamberlain; and one sister, Cora Lucille Chamberlain.
SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday in the Davis Funeral Home, Canton, with the Rev. Amanda Ross and the Rev. Maynard Blackwood conducting. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Canton.
VISITATION: 4-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
MEMORIALS: Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lewis County Nursing Home or to the Ten Mile 4-H Club.
