Joy Ann Lewis Crowder, 62, was born Sept. 26, 1944, and passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at her home in Colyell, surrounded by her loving family. Joy worked for the Hammond Developmental Center, with 33 years of service. She was also a member of Colyell Baptist Church for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Livingston, then resumes at Colyell Baptist Church, Colyell, until services, officiated by the Rev. Paul Taylor. Burial in Colyell Community Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Vertis Crowder Sr.; two daughters, Sheila Bourg, and Sonya Akridge and husband George; son, Vertis "Bubba" Crowder Jr. and wife Melissa; six grandchildren, Johnathan Crowder and wife Nikki, Amber Poche, Ryan Bourg and girlfriend Cathleen Walton, Joshua Crowder and girlfriend Megan Berthelot, Alyssa Crowder, and Tyler Akridge; great-grandson, Lucas Crowder; brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Jeanette Lewis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Helen Picou Lewis; and sister, Rachael Lamendola.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Baton Rouge, especially Mary, Vicki and Juanita, for the love and care they gave Joy and her family through this difficult time.
