James Ricky Avens, age 54 passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 at East Tennessee Healthcare. He was of the Baptist faith, a loving father and grandfather. Preceded in death by father, James Alvin Avens, grandfather, John Houston Avens and grandmother, Callie May Evens.

Survivors include: mother, Addie Kate McDougall, daughter, Tabitha Ann Avens, daughter and fiancé, Jamie Rae Avens and Chad Harrison Paul, grandchildren, Kaylee Shaye Avens, Kimora Keyonce Smith and Allie Gail Paul all of Sweetwater. Sisters and brother-in-laws, Tim and Cindy Leonard, Kent and Tammy Buchanan all of Sweetwater, David and Debbie McKeehan of Athens and Bobby and Kathy McElhaney of Ten Mile, nieces and nephews, Shawn Lowe, Ryan Wicker, Adam Wicker, Marco McKeehan and Stacey Buchanan. He also had several great nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the East Tennessee Healthcare Facility and the Home Health Care of East Tennessee for the great care you provided for our loved one, also a big appreciation to Mark Stewart for the excellent care you also provided.

Family will receive friends at Glenlock Baptist Church located at 3050 Sweetwater Vonore Rd
Sweetwater, TN from 12 pm - 1 pm on Thursday, December 12th with graveside services at 1:30pm at the Sweetwater Memorial Gardens located at 1838 Highway 11 N, Sweetwater, TN
