Gary Duane Calkins, Age 68 of Ionia, Passed away January 24, 2015. He was born December 9, 1946, in Inoia, the son of Archie and Margaret (Nevins) Calkins.
Gary married Rosalie Vroman on June 22, 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war; was a member of the VFW and Past Commander of Ionia American Legion.
Gary was a firfighter with the Ionia City Fire Dept. He loved fishing, Camping, and John Wayne.
Gary is Survived by is wife, Rosalie Calkins of Ionia; Children, Micheal Calkins of Ionia, Lisa Gomez of Muir, ad Steven Calkins of Ionia; Step-children, Kimberly Gamez of Ionia and Keven (Ginny) Rowland of Texas; sisters, Sue (russell) Misner of Lyons, Barbara Wright of Ionia, and Sara (mark) Fosburg of Ionia; 11 Grandchildren and eight Great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in Death by his Parents; brother, Buddy Calkins; and brother-in-law Carl Wright.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at LeValley United Methodist Church in Ionia. Those wishing may make donations towards the belding VFW Memorial Brick. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Online Condolences may be made at www.lakefuneralhomes.com.
