Martin Cabboditch Expires Saturday

Was Native of Austria and Came to America In His Youth - Survived by Niece and Nephew.

Martin Cabboditch, passed away at the home of John Henicksman, Saturday morning, Jan. 5th at 10:10 o'clock, death resulting from an attack of "flu" and the infirmities due to old age. He was aged 87 years, 2 months and 2 days.
Mr. Cabboditch was born in Austria in 1841 and came to America about the year 1869 and located in Meyersdale, Pa., which was then known as Meyers Mills. He was a single man and made his home with his nephew, John Henicksman, for 20 years.
He leaves the following relatives: a nephew, John Henicksman, Meyersdale, Pa., and a niece, Mrs. Mary (Kumpf) Foy, now residing at Newark, N.J.
Funeral services were held with high mass on Tuesday morning, with the Rt. Rev. J.J. Brady officiating, at S.S. Phillip and James Catholic Church, of which the deceased was a very devout member. Internment was made in the Catholic cemetery. R.Reich & Son had charge of funeral arrangements.


Martin Caboditch, a native of Austria, one of Meyersdale's oldest citizens, died Saturday, Jan. 5, at the High Street residence of his nephew John Henicksman, with home he had made his home. His exact age is unknown, but judging from his passports and other records he must have been 87 to 88 years old. Mr. Caboditch was unmarried and is survived bu a niece, Mrs. Mary Foy of Newyark, N.J., in addition to his nephew above mentioned. He was a member of Saints Phillip and James Catholic Church. A requiem high mass was said by his pastor, Very Rev. J.J. Brady on Tuesday morning, prior to burial by R. Reich & Son in the Catholic Cemetery.
