Thomas Bradley owned 660 acres of good farm land surrounding the home site near Campton in 1852. He treated his slaves well, and long after they were freed they returned to be buried in the Bradley Cemetery. Twenty-three are mentioned by name in the appraisal of his estate after his death. Among his personal property noted by the appraisers were nine feather beds and steads, a rifle gun and shot bag, two spinning wheels, 16 head of sheep, a lot of books, two side saddles, and 21 pieces of bed clothing. In a sale of the property, the Negroes alone brought $17,672.89. Thomas and Susannah's son, James M. Bradley, bought the home and land. He built a new home on the family property only a short distance from the original home and took his mother to live with him and his family until her death at 83.
