Funeral services for Asa Lee Smith, 81, of Jamestown Highway, Crossville, who passed away Aug. 14, 1997, were held Aug. 17 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
He was born Aug. 3, 1916 in Joplin, MO, the son of Anthony and Rosa McReynolds Smith. Mr. Smith was a supervisor at Turner Day and Woolworth Handle Corp., and a member of the Crossville Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Smith of Crossville; daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene and Orlie J. Wood of Gordonsville, TN, Barbara and Chester Bishop, and Shirley and Dale Saltkill, all of Crossville; son, A.V. Dodson of Crossville; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Wayne Hanisch of St. Louis, MO, Bill Smith of Graysville, TN, Richard Freeman, Champaign, IL, and Robert Smith of Sparta; and sisters, Mary Hastings of Sparta and Pauline Barnes of Rock Island, TN.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Jonathan Bush, Matthew Bush, Jimmy Cook, Bruce Bishop, Lewis Wood and Kevin Saltkill.
Bro. Orlie J. Wood officiated. Bilbrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
