Mary Ann was the fifth child and second daughter of Conrad Borchers and Nancy Dingdore Borchers. Mary Ann was born in Amanda, Fairfield County, Ohio in 1850 and grew up with five brothers and a sister. Her older brothers were George (1837- 1880), John (1943 to 1910) and Charles born in 1847. Mary Ann had on older sister, Charlotte (1840-1847). She had two younger brothers, William Henry (1854 to 1929)and James Buchanan (1857-1937). Mary Ann grew up with her siblings and her parents in Amanda, Fairfield, Ohio and lived there for her early childhood years. In 1867, Maryann moved to Jackson, Andrew county, Missouri with her parents. The 1870 Census shows her living in Jackson.

In 1871, at the age of 21, Mary Ann married John Wesley Deaton in Andrew County, Missouri. Three children would come from their union...Perry A. Deaton born in 1873, Francis C Deaton born in 1880 and Elsie Deaton born in 1882.

Census information shows the family continuing to live in Andrew County, Missouri until Mary Ann's death in 1921. Mary Ann died on July 21, 1921 in her home in Rosendale, Missouri at 70 years, 8 months, and 28 days of age.

Mary Ann is buried in Gravel Wall Baptist Church Cemetery in Clay Township, Section 26, Andrew County, Missouri. Mary Ann's parents, Conrad and Nancy and her oldest brother, George and her sister, Charlotte are also buried in this cemetery.
