Obit:Tacoma News Tribune, May 4, 1956, Page C-2: - Frederick Silas Cook, a resident of Tacoma for 62 years before he moved to Gig Harbor 10 months ago, died yesterday in a local hospital. He was 72 years old.
Born in Logan, Iowa, Mr. Cook came to Fort Steilacoom with his parents in 1891 and two years later moved to Tacoma. He was a salesman.
Mr. Cook was a member of the First Congregational Church, State Lodge No. 68, F&AM, The York Rite bodies, Afifi Temple of the Shrine and the 50-Year Club.
Surviving are his wife, Clara A. of the home at Rt. 3, Box 17, Gig Harbor; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Cater of Tacoma and Mrs. Joy Christen of Parkland; four sons, Kenneth of Longbranch, Lucian of Tacoma, Frederick Jr. of Olalla and Vernon of Gig Harbor; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Wheeler of Seattle, and Mrs. Fannie C. Morris of Vancouver, B.C.; a brother, Edward Cook of Seattle; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Announcement of services will be made by the Dryer Mortuary.
