OBIT: Betty Irene Dahl of East Wenatchee went peacefully home to be with the Lord July 5, 2003 after a brief illness with her daughters by her side.
She was born on February 5th, 1929 in Laurel, Montana to Elizabeth and Carl Thaut. She attended various schools in Montana until graduating from Roberts High School.
Betty began her career in optometry at Thomas and Crollard Optometrists in Wenatchee. She then moved to Seattle to further her career and become the first woman in Washington State to become a licensed optician. She continued her career in the optical field for Group Health retiring in 1986 as an Operations Manager.
She traveled extensively around Southeast Asia residing four and a half years in Bandung, Indonesia. She made her final home in East Wenatchee in 1999 where she joined Faith Lutheran Church and was a member of the Altar Guild.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Linda Logan of Federal Way, Janice (Bruce) Thompson of Everett, Deanna (Gordon) Wildes of Whidbey Island and grandsons, Brett, Aaron and Alex Thompson, Cameron and Jesse Wildes, sisters Mrs. Elsie Uselton of Billings, Dorothy (Jim) Maydole of East Wenatchee, brothers Roy (Nancy) Thaut of Sumner, Larry (Judy) Thaut of Bellingham, sister-in-law Dorothy Thaut of Columbus, MT,; a special sister, Mrs. Audrey Drain of Seattle and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Clarence Thaut.
A memorial service at Faith Lutheran Church, 171 Eastmont in East Wenatchee with Rev. Mick Marquart officiating.
