Catherine Frei did attend Sacramento City High School and played field hockey her senior year in 1934. Sports weren't a fad for women at that time, but hockey was emerging as a big thing among high school girls sports. She worked at Giant's as a waitress. She was the daughter of Fern and Joseph Quinn of Sacramento, a wife, and mother of three, two twin boys Richard and David, and daughter Linda.
Sadly, Catherine was placed in the Weimar Sanatorium in 1942, at the tender age of 25 after catching Pulmonary Tuberculosis. She died at the age of 28, in Weimar Sanatorium. H er husband and children were forever affected by her tragic life cut all to short.
Catherine and her husband, Ben, lie and rest eternally and irrevocably side by side together in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Forever in our hearts. Rest in peace, Grandma.
