Mrs. Norris Banks -

Many friends in Torbrook Mines and elsewhere learned with sadness of the passing of Florrie, wife of Norris Banks, who passed away at her home in Torbrook Mines on Wednesday, August 23rd, after several weeks' illness. Born at Londonderry, N.S., 75 years ago, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Eliza Pooley. She moved to Torbrook Mines sixty years ago, where she has made her home. Her marriage to Mr. Banks took place at Nictaux Falls, on April 18th, 1899. She is survived by six daughters and two sons: (Maude) Mrs. Albert Keddy, Torbrook Mines; (Jessie), Mrs. LeBaron Coleman, Kentville; (Merna), Mrs. J.K. Slack, Bridgewater;(Florence), Mrs. Perley Bruce, Kingston; (Grace), Mrs. Robie Barteaux, Allanburg, Ont.; (Laura), Mrs. Philip Johnson, at home; Laurie, of Halifax; Robie of Torbrook Mines and twenty grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. A son Willis
predeceased her thirty-three years ago. A sister, Carrie, fifty-five years ago and a brother, Arthur 1 year ago. The funeral was held Wednesday
afternoon, Aug. 25th, with a prayer at the home, followed by a service at the United Church, Torbrook Mines, Rev. E.C. Sturge officiating. Pallbearers were: Jack and Ronald Coleman, David Bruce, Robie Banks, Rudolph and Frank Slack. The Male Choir was was in attendance, with Mrs. Leslie Banks, organist. Hymns sung were "Asleep in Jesus," "Blessed Sleep" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye." Solo, "The Old Rugged Cross" by Frank Martyn. Burial took place in the Torbrook Mines cemetery. The floral tributes were many and
beautiful.
