There passed away at the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital on Wednesday,
November 15th, Alexander Boyd, of Torbrook Mines, after an illness of two
months duration. He was born in Halifax in 1861. For the past fifty years he
resided in Torbrook and during the operations of the iron mines there
engaged in mining, where he received injuries to his eyes, which resulted
in his being practically blind for forty years. He was a member of the Orange
Lodge having joined this organization about 45 years ago.
His wife, the former Annie McKay, of Nictaux Falls, predeceased him about
15 years ago. He is survived by an only sister, Mrs. Helen Clifford of
Wollaston, Mass.
His funeral was held from the United Church of Canada at Torbrook Mines
on Monday, Nov. 20th, service being conducted by Rev. Donald C.
Boothroyd, of Kingston, assisted by Rev. T.M. Cummings, Middleton.
Interment was at Torbrook Mines cemetery. Pallbearers were Leander
Burns, Robert Thompson, Ansel Barkhouse and Ainsley Hatt.
