Mabel Arlene, daughter of Stevie and Ethel Caldwell Long, was born December 15, 1920, south of Urich, Missouri and passed away November 5, 1980 At Wesley Medical Center Wichita, Kansas. Mabel attended Camp Branch and Piper elementary schools and graduated from Clinton High School, class of 1939. As a young girl, she became a member of the White Oak Methodist Church, serving as church pianist for several years. After moving to Wichita, Kansas in 1946, Mabel was converted to the Baptist faith and at the time of her death was a faithful member of the First Bible Baptist Church.

For several years she was employed in the diet division of St Joseph Hospital. After retiring from that position, she became a Red Cross Volunteer and transcribed books into Braille for the blind.

On November 14, 1975, she was united in marriage to Robert Adams, together the remodeled their home and enjoyed traveling. She was proud of her home and her family especially her grandchildren.

She leaves to mourn her passing her devoted husband, Robert, who tenderly cared for her during her last illness; a daughter and husband, Diana and Jerry Logan, Rose Hill, Kansas; a son and wife, Larry and Jo Ferguson, Wichita, Kansas; a stepson and stepdaughter and their families; three grandchildren, Jamie Dir, Paula and Cristi Ferguson; two sisters Mrs. Ruth Snow and Mrs. Beulah Moore, Urich, Missouri; two brothers Arthur Long, Kansas City, Missouri and Wayne Long, St George Utah; several nieces and nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral Services were held November 8 at 10 am at the All Faiths Chapel, Lakeview Mortuary, with Rev Lee Drennan officiating. Music was by Lanny Kliewer, vocalist and Klydell Knoner, organist. Songs were "In the Garden" and "The Lord's Prayer". Burial was in Lakeview Gardens Cemetery.
