Elizabeth was born March 17, 1927, in Marathon County, the daughter of Stanley and Teckla (Kuklinski) Wanta. She grew up in Bevent and attended St. Ladislaus School. She worked at Marathon Battery before her marriage to Leo S. Gagas on Nov 17, 1945, at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Bevent.
