Sarah Catherine Garner, 80, of Spotsylvania County, formerly of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Nov 18, 2000 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Madison County, one of thirteen children, Mrs. Garner was a member of the Spotsylvania American Legion and Northside Baptist Church in Fredericksburg,
She was the widow of Robert Minor Garner.
She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Frances, and a brother, Claude.
Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia A. Harr of King George County; two sons, Kenneth W. Garner of Caroline County, and Robert G. Garner of Spotsylvania; six sisters, Edna Peyton of Madison, Bertha Johnson of Rochelle, June Shastain of Oakpark, Rosa Lee Hartman of Dayton, Ohio, Ruby Walker of Bealeton, and Virginia Ann Gallihugh of Lynchburg; four brothers, Charles Edward Gallihugh of Ruckersville, Shirley Gallihugh, John Gallihugh, and Jesse Gallihugh, all of Oakpark; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Potomac Baptist Church in King George, with the Rev. James Newton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home in King George.
