Leander Baker was born in Davisville September 6, 1826, and died in the same house in which he was born, January 6, 1909, at the age of 82 years, 4 months. The end came suddenly and unexpectedly, but his beloved helpmeet, with many others who knew his inner life, say that he was prepared to go.
He was married to Cordelia Ann Reymond January 13, 1852. To them have been born one daughter, Mrs. Maria S. Perry of Brookline, and one son, Osborne Reymond Baker of this place.
The early life of the deceased was spent at sea, but since 1860, he has given up his seafaring life. Mr. Baker was always a good, kind and patient father and husband, and a ready and helpful neighbor, as many testify. His sympathies were always with good moves of every sort.
ôSo peacefully did he pass away, To realms of bright eternal days, We only knew by vanished breath, He'd entered through the gates of death."
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Ralph Magee, from the family residence Saturday afternoon, Jan. 9. Interment was in the Davisville cemetery.
