FUNERALS
Mrs. Hannah Sparling-Abell
Funeral services for Mrs. Hannah Sparling-Abell were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Waggener & Campbell chapel by Rev. G. O. Baker. During the service the Caldwell Trio composed of Ruth Nelson, Mildred Caldwell and Pauline Caldwell sang two hymn selections, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Harry Holland. Friends acting as pall bearers were W. J. Pierce, T. S. Perry, Ray Barnard, Oscar Proud, Dean King and Louis Fry. Interment was made in the Conrad Memorial cemetery.
OBITUARY
Hannah Marie Slack was born at Lakeside, Ontario, Canada, on December 31, 1862, to Mr. and Mrs. Abigail Slack (sic). When she was a small child she moved with her parents to Ubly, Michigan, where she grew to young womanhood and there on April 21, 1880, she was married to George H. Sparling. To this union eight children were born. In July, 1889, the family moved to Flathead county and settled near LaSalle and later on a farm near Kalispell.
Mr. Sparling died April 10, 1922, and on Jun 23, 1925, Mrs. Sparling was married to A. C. Abell, who passed away in December, 1934.
For the past two years Mrs. Abell had been an invalid and last June went to Spokane to visit her son. She passed away at Spokane November 17, 1940, at the age of 77 years.
She is survived by her five daughters, Mrs. W. T. Lavin and Mrs. I. R. Phillips of Kalispell, Mrs. J. N. Marques of Kelso, Wash., Mrs. W. E. Dunn of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. J. L. Curtis of Keller, Wash., and one son, Alger G. Sparling of Spokane, Wash. A brother, John Slack of Bad Axe, Mich., also survives her and there are 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and other relatives.
