|Birth: ||Mar. 17, 1823|

Sarah Keen was born on March 17th 1823 in Tennessee.
She married Alfred Smith Doss and the couple went on to have six children.
Edward W. Doss, James Doss, Joseph Ely Doss, Nancy Bell Doss, Salia Sarah Doss and Mary Narciss Doss.
She was a loving mother and housekeeper for many years.
She appears in the 1850 Monroe County, Kentucky, Census with her husband and one of their sons, Edward. They are living next door to Eli Keen, his wife, Nancy and nine of their children.
In the 1880 Dallas, Texas, Census, Sarah and Alfred are together and there is a Joseph Keen, born 1816 in Tennessee, in their household.
There is a Joseph Keen named as one of the children of Eli and Nancy but the birth date of that Joseph is 1829.
Since Eli was used as a middle name for one of Alfred and Sarah's children, I suspect that there is some connection as yet undiscovered that connects Sarah Keen to one of the Keen families in Tennessee but I have not yet discovered conclusive evidence to prove this.
She passed away on April 15th 1891 in Wise County, Texas.
08/12/2016 - Autosomal DNA evidence supports the conclusion that Eli Keen and Nancy Barron were the parents of Sarah Keen.
Furthermore, the Joseph Keen found in the 1880 Census with Sarah and Alfred was the husband of Anna Barron. He abandoned her in 1856 before being arrested for larceny in 1860. In 1870, he is found with his brother, Robert R. Keen in Texas before moving in with Sarah and Alfred by 1880. He returned to Greenville, Tennessee and was living with his son, John B. Keen. He is buried there in the cemetery behind the old police station. The information regarding Joseph Keen is courtesy of Bill Mitchell.
